Developed by Burgess, this tried and tested system is probably the most widely used metal tile ceiling system. The tiles, manufactured to fine press tool tolerances, are clipped into a concealed Tee Bar grid. Tiles are automatically levelled in the grid by special "Pip & Stop" registers, which are pressed into the side flanges of the tiles during manufacture. The robust grid system is easily installed and tiles can be removed and replaced for access to services.
Modular or circular light fitting and grilles can be integrated within the Clip-In System, and various acoustic criteria can be met with the inclusion of acoustic inlays.

Clip-In Swing Down - system that offers a ‘swing-down & slide facility

The Burgess Swingdown product range retains many of the standard Clip-in system features. Utilising the same concealed Tee Bar grid arrangement, access to the void is gained in a similar manner.However, the Swingdown system has the advantage that the tiles are retained vertically in the grid during service operations, so reducing the likelihood of damage during maintenance and installation. In addition, it is possible to slide the tiles along the grid in their vertical position to assist major access into the void.

Burgess have extensive experience in the design and manufacture of ceiling systems for external environments. The Burgess Clip-In system can be used in external conditions where the ceiling is not directly exposed to rainfall. The system utilises non-perforated bevel or square edge tiles to a variety of sizes (including trapezoidal), within a standard concealed Tee Bar grid. Enhanced coatings or finishes can be offered to meet the most demanding of environments.

clipin securityClip-in Security - Designed to prevent unauthorised access.
This is a standard internal quality Burgess Clip-in ceiling, with the addition of security locking features to prevent unauthorised access to the ceiling void. The system is normally specified in Prisons, Airport search areas or other high security locations. Panels are retained in the Tee Bar in the normal manner and an additional security clip is introduced to prevent unauthorised removal. Access to the void is normally obtained through hinged lockable access panelsand from here, all panels can be removed.

access panelsAccess Panels - Access panels are manufactured to resemble the main ceiling panels both in respect to size and edge detail. They are used in locations where security tiles are employed or where regular access to the ceiling void is necessary for electrical or mechanical services or devices.
The panels are manufactured with reinforced frames that provide rigidity to the panel whilst permitting the panel to hinge down for access to the ceiling plenum. Access panels are fitted with locking devices to retain the panel in pdfthe ceiling and prevent unauthorised access. Locks can be operated with a square shanked key (budget locks) or, in particularly sensitive areas such as police stations or prisons, the locks can be key operated (Yale Type). Where Yale type locks are specified and there are numerous access panels required in a ceiling the keys can be "suited" such that the same key operates all of the panels if that is desired.

 

 

pdfGrille Tile - The Clip-In Burgess Grille Tile has been developed for use in ventilated ceilings for the supply or extraction of large volumes of air where standard perforated tiles are inadequate.
Grille Tiles are available in a range of module sizes and colours. The tiles have a standard border of 53mm and contain a central 13mm cell louvre retained in position by fixing tabs.
PERFORMANCE:  The following tables give air-flow performance for a standard 600mm square Grille Tile as independently tested by Sound Research Laboratories Ltd. – Test report C/5252/405.

pdfHigh Humidity Ceilings - For Aggressive Environments
Burgess Clip-In tiles are available in a variety of finishes for use in specific aggressive environmental conditions.

Shower Areas: For these areas we would recommend plain bevel edged Clip-In tiles with a Plastisol finish with a silicone sealant applied between the joints of tiles. Perimeter channel trims should be aluminium or painted stainless steel.

Swimming Pools: Plastisol finish plain Clip-In tiles are also suitable for use in areas such as swimming pools and changing rooms.

Kitchen Areas: For areas where normal humidity levels do not exceed 70% and adequate extract systems are in place a plain polyester painted Clip-In tile is recommended. Plastisol finish tiles should be used where humidity levels are high or where there is poor heat extract. Tiles above direct heat source should be well ventilated to ensure surface temperature does not exceed 60ºC to avoid surface finish blistering.

Food Preparation Areas: Where a smooth frequently washable ceiling is required rather than the slightly textured finish of Plastisol, Burgess can provide plain Clip-In tiles in a Stelvetite Foodsafe finish. A silicone seal between tile joints can be used if the ceiling is required to be watertight.
For added confidence in food display or food preparation areas, a powder coat formulation is available with proven anti microbial performance to inhibit bacterial growth


Clean Room Ceilings - Burgess plain (unperforated) Clip-In tiles are ideal for use in areas requiring a high degree of cleanliness such as laboratories and hospital operating theatres.
A totally air and dust tight ceiling can be achieved by using plain (un-perforated) bevel edged tiles with a silicone sealant applied between the joints of the tile.
A bead of silicone can be applied onto the rear face of perimeter trim to provide a complete seal between the cut perimeter tiles and the trim.
Should access to the ceiling void be required, this is achieved using a sharp knife along the tile joints to break the silicone seal. The tile can then be removed using a vacuum lifter or blade extractor and once the tile is replaced the seal must be reapplied around the tile.
Ceiling type: Clip in concealed grid metal suspended ceiling.
Access: Full access to the ceiling void is achieved once mastic sealant is removed.
